Scintillating seminars, extensive exhibition: The Energy Event 2010

Taking place annually, The Energy Event 2010 takes place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham on the 8th and 9th of September 2010. Here, AirUser looks at what visitors can expect from one of Europe’s largest exhibitions and conferences focusing solely on energy management, efficiency and procurement This year’s event is sponsored McKinnon & Clarke (M&C), one of the largest procurement and compliance specialists in Europe. It addresses topical issues through its seminar programme and offers the chance for visitors to meet some of the biggest players in energy at the exhibition.

To ensure each year that visitors continue to be offered THE energy event of the year, the seminar programme provides discussions that are both relevant and authoritative on issues that really matter to the industry.

Working alongside CIBSE for one of its sessions is ESTA which is presenting its Energy Management - Expert Hub. This includes: the ABC of Energy Management, giving those new to this discipline an understanding of how to go about developing an energy policy, energy audits and gaining management and staff support; key legislation covering the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and the Building Regulations (in conjunction with CIBSE) and the implementation of technologies including metering and aM&T, energy controls, compressed air and lighting.

In addition to the seminar programme, some of the biggest names in energy are exhibiting and among the 120 exhibitors will be Mattei, a manufacturer of high quality rotary vane air compressors.

Atlas Copco Compressors, with its continuing commitment to helping businesses keep energy and production costs down, will also have a stand and will be showcasing its Carbon Zero range of air compressors. These are equipped with advanced heat recovery systems capable of recovering 100% of electrical energy input. Other energy-efficient solutions on show will include the redesigned, small footprint GA 5-15 VSD compressor range, recent additions to the FD family of refrigerant dryers and details of free health check air audits.

The MEUC will be presenting an afternoon seminar on both days of the event with the seminar on the first day entitled Take control of your energy future. Among the topics being discussed during the afternoon is: Are you ready for the tough times ahead? Where The Director General of the Major Energy Users’ Council, Andrew Buckley, examines the dark clouds looming in the next 12 months. Plus Ben Murray, Managing Director, Carbon Smart asks ‘Do your green credentials stack up or are you just paying lip service?’

The seminar on the second day is devoted to Forecasting your energy prices and carbon costs and amongst the presentation are: The Outlook for Wholesale Gas and Electricity Prices from Evariste Nyouki, Head of Economic Research, Gaselys and The UK Industrial & Commercial Market – The Supplier’s Perspective Franck Neel, Retail Director, GDF Suez Energy UK.
