New R-Series Rotary Screw Air Compressors from Ingersoll Rand July 01st 2010 Ingersoll Rand,a global leader in compressed air technology, has completed its launch in Europe, the Middle East and Africa of its new R-Series 90-160 kW / 125-200 hp contactcooled rotary screw air compressors. The new models include many advanced features and are available in fixed speed or Nirvana VSD (variable speed drive) at capacities up to 30m3/min / 1060 cfm.
"We continue to advance compressed air technology and service to maximize reliability, efficiency and productivity for our customers," said Stephen Taylor, business unit manager for Industrial Air.
The new line of compressors features Progressive Adaptive Control™ (PAC™) Protection – an integrated, intelligent system that monitors filtration, ambient temperature and other parameters – adapting the operation of the compressor in order to reduce energy consumption, lower noise levels and prevent downtime. The PAC™ Protection system increases bearing life by eliminating water build-up in the coolant, and improves productivity by monitoring and conditioning incoming power, ensuring optimum efficiency.
R-Series compressors also feature Ingersoll Rand V-Shield™ technology, a superior configuration using stainless steel pipes and durable metal-flex hoses. The V-Shield system features leak-free elastomeric seals for continuous, reliable connections, and stainless steel air piping for reduced downstream contamination. The vibration isolation system and metal-flex hoses dampen noise and extend compressor life while eliminating potential leak paths.
The R-Series compressors feature a sequential cooling system with independently mounted, free-floating air and coolant heat exchangers that lower discharge temperatures to as low as 2.2° C (4° F) above ambient air. This prevents the compressor from overheating – even in temperatures up to 55° C (131° F).
The generously sized sequential cooling system can significantly reduce the energy consumed by downstream air treatment.
The compressor package also has an integrated moisture separator that delivers higher quality air by taking condensate out of the air stream, while electronic no-loss drain valves improve efficiency.
In addition the new RSeries requires minimal maintenance. By utilizing swing out separator lids, longer-life consumables, easy-access hinged doors, single side maintenance access and slide out coolers the time needed to service and maintain the compressors have been dramatically reduced.
Besides time proven single-stage airends, Ingersoll Rand's durable and efficient two-stage airends reduce bearing loads by operating at a low compression ratio at both stages. The two-stage airends also utilize a unique coolant curtain which reduces energy consumption by injecting atomized oil into the compressed air stream in stage one, lowering the air temperature and reducing the energy required for compression in stage two.
