£18 000/year savings follow encounter at Energy Event June 09th 2009 Brown and Holmes (Tamworth) is set to save £18 000 per year following the installation of a range of technologies sourced at The Energy Event in 2008. The technologies in question were recommended as part of an energy conservation package supplied by Carbon Control, a solution provider in the energy conservation field, and cover heating, lighting, compressed air and voltage optimisation.
Andrew Fletcher, md, attended The Energy Event 2008, keen to find a company that could work alongside Carbon Control in understanding compressed air, identify savings and propose solutions. Atlas Copco Compressors is a long-standing exhibitor at The Energy Event and it was here that the two parties held initial discussions.
Atlas Copco conducted a compressed air survey at Brown and Holmes’ Tamworth site which included monitoring compressed air consumption over a 7-day period. Ian Ashcroft of Atlas Copco’s air audit team says “We were then able to produce a report which, through empirical data, demonstrated the opportunity to reduce compressed air use on the site by 65%, through replacing oversized compressors with a GA series variable speed drive machine and other, smaller capacity units, by implementing time scheduling and by reducing the system operating pressure.”
Following the proposal, Brown and Holmes invested £47 000 on measures that include replacement lighting, voltage optimisation and heating system control. Investment is funded through an interest-free loan secured with the help of Carbon Control via the Carbon Trust.
The Energy Event 2009 takes place at The National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham on 9th and 10th of September 2009. It is free to enter, with free parking. Visitors are advised to register in advance for seminar places and entry tickets. More details from: www.theenergyevent.com. More articles from Western Business Exhibitions Ltd: |
