Condensate drain takes the strain December 01st 2009 Condensate from compressed air systems, and from air receivers, is frequently contaminated with metal particles, rust and gritty sludge. This can cause drains to block or prevents them from sealing after discharge, wasting the air they were installed to protect.
Condensate Systems's Sepura ECD range of electronic zero-loss condensate drains has a built-in strainer that protects the drain valve. Integral to the unit, any blocking of the strainer due to excessive contaminants is detected by the electronic level sensor which switches on the alarm system.
The auto-drain can recognise any minor change in the position of the valve plunger after operation. If it senses a variance from normal, the system initiates its self-cleaning mode, rapidly oscillating the plunger to clear the problem. Using a small portable ‘reader’, it is easy to download statistics from all ECDs in a system to obtain a performance report. More articles from Condensate Systems Ltd: |
