Focusing on energy
August 18th 2008

It hardly bears repeating that the major cost associated with a compressed air system is the energy that it uses during its lifetime. Replacing old equipment with the latest technology, auditing your current system or simply checking for leaks can all have an impact on what this cost will be. If you have energy-related questions about your compressed air system or other areas of your business then a visit to The Energy Event, sponsored by Total Gas & Power takes place on the 10th and 11th September 2008 at The National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.might well provide the answers.

The most obvious port of call for those interested in compressed air is a join presentation between BCAS, the British Compressed Air Society and ESTA (Energy Services and Technology Association) that takes place at 2pm on Thursday 11th September. Entitled: Compressed Air - 96% inefficiency to tackle. This seminar addresses: New plant – what to install in new systems for higher efficiency; Existing systems – assessing performance; improvement; replacement and reducing leaks to lower demand.

As well as the BCAS/ESTA seminar there is a full, free to attend, seminar and conference programme taking place over the two days of the event. Hosting conferences and seminars in 2008 are ESTA, MEUC (Major Energy Users Council), Envirowise, CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers) and the Energy Information Centre (EIC).

There are also a good number of exhibitors, among the 120 that constitute the exhibition side of the event, that are directly related to compressed air. Hardware from Atlas Copco Compressors will be on display along with equipment from Compair UK, while Alpine Components and Energair represent those concerned with Instrumentation and Energy Management. On the filtration side Donaldson Filtration can be found on Stand 234.

Alongside this core compressed air information one of the most newsworthy additions to the 2008 event is the independent Energy Insight conference that focuses on energy procurement, supply security, risk management, CSR and energy management.

One other reason for visiting The Energy Event is that you could become the proud owner of a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle, courtesy of Encore International, the energy procurement and price risk management company*. To be in with a chance of winning, visitors should head to stand 216 or 222 where their details will be entered into the prize draw.

For Air Users, visiting The Energy Event makes good sense. The venue is easy to access with free car parking, the seminars contain a mix of practical advice, legislative insight and discussions of the latest issues plus the exhibition offers product innovations and experienced service providers.
