Fast, reliable measurement August 02nd 2007 Ideal for use in plastic dryers, compressed air lines and other dry gas applications, Vaisala's DRYCAP Dewpoint Transmitter DMT142 and Dewpoint Meter DM70 are suitable for OEM applications and spot-checking dryer performance or leak checking in air distribution lines.
The probes measure fast and reliably over a wide dewpoint range, and need minimal maintenance due to the long-term stability which is ensured by Vaisala Auto-calibration function.
The lasting high performance is achieved with Vaisala DRYCAP polymer sensor technology. Because the sensor fully recovers from getting wet, the transmitter performs well in applications that occasionally experience process water spikes. Both probes can be inserted directly into pressurised processes.
The importance of dewpoint measurement in compressed air depends on the intended use of the air. In many modern factories, compressed air is used to operate a variety of equipment, some of which may malfunction if condensation forms on internal parts. Certain water sensitive processes that require compressed air may have specific dryness specifications. Medical and pharmaceutical processes may treat water vapor and other gases as contaminants, requiring a very high level of purity.
In some cases, dewpoint measurement is important because the pipes that carry the air are exposed to freezing temperatures and a high dewpoint could result in ice formation in the pipes.
