Rotary screw expansion July 26th 2007 Compressor specialists Gardner Denver has expanded its UK operations with the decision to market and distribute its range of Rotary Screw compressors directly from its Gloucester based operation
The site at Gloucester is steeped in compressor manufacturing history having once been the home of Bristol Pneumatics, Williams and James, Hamworthy and more recently Belliss and Morcom which Gardner Denver acquired in 2001. With the decision to integrate and expand the sales, distribution, marketing and technical support of the highly energy efficient Rotary Screw compressors at the Gloucester site, Gardner Denver is confident that their continued expansion and growth in this key market will continue.
“The VS Rotary Screw compressor range in particular represent the future for lean burn compressed air production,” explains Trevor Perry, sales and marketing director of Gardner Denver.
“In these energy conscious times speed controlled Rotary Screw compressors such as our VS models can reduce energy consumption by as much as 30% while improving the availability of high quality compressed air with a 13% increase in specific output,” he adds. The move to UK integration corresponds with the expansion of the range which is now available in 7.5 bar, 10 and 13 bar output machines. Among the key design features of VS compressors are the elimination of idle time and all potential areas of kilowatt wastage.
Their design offers the ability to stop running when demand ceases but without venting the air already compressed – again eliminating waste energy and air. When air demand returns, the compressor simply “soft” starts against the pressure load where, by comparison, a traditional screw compressor will consume about 30% of its full load energy costs even if no air is being produced.
